About this Training Course

While interventions in subsea wells share some similarities with those carried out on land or platform wells, the complexities of accessing the subsea tree through an intervention riser mean that costs are significantly higher. As a consequence, the cost of errors or lost time are similarly greater. Simple, and often avoidable mistakes can mean the cost of an intervention can easily outstrip any productivity enhancement the intervention was designed to achieve. This intermediate level course focuses on areas of interest unique to the subsea environment, such as subsea trees and wellheads, intervention riser systems and riserless subsea interventions. In doing so, the course will prepare the participants for the exciting and challenging task of planning and executing subsea interventions and make them better placed to avoid the costly mistakes that can have such a detrimental impact on subsea interventions. The course consists of a series of classroom-based lectures and case studies, supplemented by videos and animations. Participants for this course will be required to have existing knowledge of conventional well intervention methods i.e. wireline, coiled tubing and pumping and stimulation operations on land and platform wells.
